Venice, from June 03 th 2009,  has a new cultural reality in Punta della Dogana, historical place in the proximities of the marvelous Church of the Madonna della Salute which divides the Canal Grande from the Canale de la Giudecca. After 30 years of abandonment Francois Pinault, responsible of the group PPR that manages the filiera of the luxury with Gucci, Venetian Shop, the Fnac, Balenciaga, has in fact financed, investing 20 million of Euro, this exposition area which  picks up the 200 works of his collection, jobs of 60 artists, and entitled “Mapping the Study: Artists from the François Pinault Collection” , shared with Palazzo Grassi also this in management to the magnate from the 2006.

In order to to promote the contemporary culture to Venice, “Mapping the Study”,  wants to return the energy and the creative tension that animate the manifold and different approaches to the artistic creation.

For the restructuring it has been select Tadao Andò Japanese archistar, who made a complete restyling of the whole structure which was originally  the Customs of the Serenissima: nevertheless, the restauration has lifted some criticisms, as the first intention was to place 2 obelisks in the Campo della Salute in front of the main access, but this choice has not been approved even from same Pinault, not being held proper for the location.

The preparation of such important exposition area, besides the presence of known artists what Jeff Koons, Sigmar Polke, Rudolf Stingel, Cindy Sherman, Richard Prince, give the possibility to the emergent talents, and to some characters at times neglected by the international artistic scene to be able to expose their  works.

The show is taken care of over that from Francis Bonami, from the newyorkese Alison Gingeras been born in 1973 and responsible of the management and of the maintenance of the works of contemporary art from the later-war to today of the François Pinault Foundation.

What interesting symbol of end jobs of the new exposition are, can be admired “Child with the Frog”  of the artist Charles Ray, extremely particular and eccentric work which can admired in the Punta della Dogana.

The Carnival in Venice, magnificent and fascinating event that enchants every year thousand of people with his charm and mystery.

The word Carnival is used for the first time in a document of the Doge Falier in 1094 where it speaks of public fun, therefore, from this, it can be understood  the ancient origin of the event, born by the necessity of the Repubblica Serenissima to give the people the possibility of  amusing themselves  at least for a specific period of the year.

During the Carnival it was allowed to the people to deride the aristocracy, but above all it created the occasion for  the social classes to level out, in fact, disguising itself with particular customs and masks, the people could become entirely anonymous, even changing identity and behaviors: all of this, on the other hand,  had a negative side, as really during the Carnival, accomplice the anonymity, any type of crime could be easily committed.

The Carnival, a contagious euphoria that invades the calli and squeezes into every angle to revive, to recall, to fall through once the mysteries and the atmospheres of past in which the whole city was abducted from her “transgression”, from the desire to disguise and to give outlet to the joy.

For about ten days among the calli of this marvelous city you live a continuous theatrical representation of joy and playfulness well represented and manifested by the numerous masks that hasten to celebrate this magic world.

The Carnival in Venice 2010 will see protagonist the fire as dominant element of the format 6 senses x 6 sestrieris, the last one organized by Marco Balich.

The Plaza St. Mark will turn him into an ethereal garden with so many games of lights and led and three-dimensional sketches.

To start as always the event will be the flight of the Colombina, tradition that seems to have had beginning with the walk of a Turkish on a rope extended from the Torre dell’Orologio of St. Mark up to the Palazzo Ducale where made free to the doge.
